Dr. Mkpe Abang Critiques AI Myths and Misconceptions

Dr. Mkpe Abang, a technology expert, has cautioned against the delusions and misconceptions surrounding Artificial Intelligence (AI), describing them as hoaxes that should be discarded. He referenced the fears surrounding the year 2000, where predictions of catastrophic technological failures did not materialize, leading to widespread fraud.

Abang stated that while AI itself is not a hoax and its capabilities are significant, the mythology constructed around it—such as the idea of machines possessing moral agency and inevitable human redundancy—is misleading. He criticized profit-driven organizations, including AI leaders like Anthropic, which announced a $32 billion investment in a data center in Queensland, Australia, for their contradictory warnings about AI's advancement.

Abang argued that these companies are not genuinely concerned about curbing their profit motives. He concluded that while the risks associated with AI warrant serious consideration, the surrounding frenzy is increasingly problematic.
