Family of Abducted Kwara Farmer Appeals for Help
The family of Bamidele Mathew, a 71-year-old farmer abducted alongside his son in Kwara State, is experiencing anxiety following the expiration of a 48-hour ultimatum from the kidnappers demanding a ₦20 million ransom. The abduction occurred last Tuesday along the Idofin-Igbana axis while they were en route to their farm.
Kazeem, another son who escaped, reported that the gunmen attacked them at gunpoint. Sunday Ayanwale, the farmer's eldest son, stated that the ransom deadline has passed and the kidnappers have not contacted them since Friday.
The family has managed to raise only ₦1.3 million towards the ransom and is uncertain about the well-being of Bamidele and his son. They have turned to prayers for divine intervention and are appealing to the Kwara State Government and Oke-Ero Local Government Council for assistance.
The state Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, assured that efforts are being made to secure the victims' release.
