Nigeria's External Reserves Reach $45.28 Billion, Up 10.8% Year-on-Year

Nigeria's external reserves rose to $45.28 billion by December 24, 2025, marking a 10.8% year-on-year increase from $40.85 billion in 2024. Data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) shows a steady build-up in reserves throughout 2025, driven by improved foreign exchange inflows and tighter demand management.

The reserves saw a significant increase in the fourth quarter, crossing $43 billion in late October and peaking at $45.28 billion by the end of the year, the highest level in 2025.
