Nigeria's FAAC Allocates Record N3.007 Trillion in July 2026

In July 2026, Nigeria's Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) allocated a record N3.007 trillion, marking the first time monthly distributions exceeded N3 trillion. This allocation followed N2.551 trillion in June and N1.894 trillion in February, significantly increasing state revenues post-President Bola Tinubu's petrol subsidy removal.

Over the first six months of 2026, the 36 states received approximately N4.54 trillion, a 25.77% increase from N3.61 trillion in the same period in 2025. Lagos led with N365.78 billion, followed by Rivers at N295.99 billion.

Despite this revenue surge, policy analysts and civil society groups, including the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, criticize the lack of corresponding improvements in public services and living conditions. They have raised concerns over the accountability of the N14 trillion in fuel subsidy savings, arguing that the increased funds have not adequately enhanced healthcare, education, or essential services for vulnerable populations.
