Family Claims DSS Wrongfully Arrested Hero During Violence

The family of Umar Ibrahim has publicly denounced his arrest by the Department of State Services (DSS), asserting that he was wrongfully implicated in the Angwan Rukuba killings. The DSS arrested Ibrahim on April 3, 2026, charging him with criminal conspiracy and terrorism, as stated by Plateau State Attorney General Philemon Daffi.

Family members, including his brother Muhammad Abubakar, insist that Ibrahim, a businessman engaged in vegetable trading at Farin Gada Market, had no involvement in the attacks and was instead involved in saving lives during the violence. They described the allegations as false and damaging to his reputation.

The family expressed shock at the DSS's actions, noting that no weapons or evidence were found during the search of Ibrahim's home. The Plateau State Government has also issued a statement regarding the allegations, which the family refutes, emphasizing that Ibrahim's arrest is unjust and aimed at tarnishing his image.
