Fashola Calls For Long-Term Commitment To Transform Nigerian Sports

At the launch of veteran sport journalist Mumini Alao's autobiography at the University of Lagos, former Lagos State governor Babatunde Fashola emphasized the need for a long-term commitment to transform Nigerian sports. Fashola highlighted the country's rich sports history and stressed the importance of commitment, discipline, and strategic execution in achieving success.

He suggested that building a sustainable framework to attract funding should be prioritized over solely focusing on financial concerns. Drawing from his experience as governor, Fashola shared how a well-structured sporting calendar in Lagos helped unearth new talent and reawaken corporate interest in sports.

Fashola's dedication to sports development has been recognized internationally, with the International Table Tennis Federation Africa naming him in the maiden edition of the ITTF Africa Youth Cup.
