FCCPC and NAFDAC Sign MoU to Combat Unsafe Products

On Wednesday, the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) and the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Abuja aimed at addressing regulatory gaps and strengthening enforcement against unsafe products and unfair market practices. The agreement is expected to deepen collaboration between the two agencies, particularly in product safety and consumer protection.

Tunji Bello, the Executive Vice Chairman of FCCPC, noted that the MoU introduces a structured system for information exchange and regulatory aims to eliminate delays that often hinder investigations and enforcement. The agencies acknowledged their overlapping functions, especially concerning substandard goods and misleading product claims.

The MoU establishes a framework for joint investigations and coordinated enforcement actions, ultimately aiming to build consumer trust and improve regulatory outcomes in Nigeria's consumer market.
