EFCC Arrests 20 for Vote Buying in FCT Elections

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) disclosed the arrest of twenty suspects involved in vote buying during the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) council elections held on Saturday. A statement released on Sunday confirmed that the suspects were apprehended across the FCT for offenses ranging from vote buying to obstructing officials.

The total amount recovered from these operations was ₦17,218,700 (seventeen million two hundred eighteen thousand seven hundred naira). Notably, ₦13.5 million was seized from suspects arrested at a car park beside a polling booth in the Kwali Local Government Area.

The EFCC reported that two suspects were arrested in Abaji, nine in Gwagwalada, four in Kuje, and four in Kwali. Following the conclusion of investigations, the suspects will face charges in court.
