Nigerian Court to Decide on Suit Against Political Parties' Names

The Federal High Court in Abuja is set to address a legal dispute brought by Patrick Ukura against INEC concerning the usage of the names African Democrat Congress (ADC) and African Action Alliance (AAC) by Nigerian political parties. Ukura argues that these names are misleading and inappropriate in the Nigerian context.

He seeks a court order for INEC to compel the parties to change their names within 30 days. The case questions whether the names ADC and AAC are misleading to voters and if INEC has the authority to direct parties to change their names.
