Federal Judges Asked to Unseal Jeffrey Epstein & Ghislaine Maxwell Grand Jury Records

The Trump administration has formally requested two federal judges in Manhattan to unseal the grand jury records of the Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell case. The Justice Department argued that releasing the confidential witness testimony would address the public interest in the Epstein network scrutiny.

This move comes after President Trump directed Attorney General Pam Bondi to seek the document release. However, legal experts note that the grand jury proceedings are typically sealed, with exceptions.

The judges overseeing the case have demanded a stronger legal justification for unsealing the transcripts. The 2021 trial of Maxwell has already featured public testimony, and the released transcripts may not reveal much new information.

The request for unsealing the records comes amid ongoing scrutiny of Epstein's 2008 plea deal and Maxwell's current legal challenges. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, a former personal lawyer for Trump, has met with Maxwell as part of a two-day probe for potential information on the offender.
