The Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) announced a record collection of N152.4 billion from the National Housing Fund (NHF) in 2025, representing a 48% increase from N103 billion collected in 2024. Shehu Osidi, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of FMBN, disclosed this during a press briefing in Abuja, marking his second year in office.
Osidi expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his confidence in appointing him two years ago. He outlined FMBN's commitment to improving operational efficiency through four strategic pillars and a seven-point agenda.
The NHF refund process also improved, with N15.6 billion paid to 55,068 beneficiaries in 2025, up from N14.4 billion to 44,333 beneficiaries in 2024. The bank's loan approvals climbed to N71.5 billion in 2024, and it has introduced innovative products such as rent-to-own loans and home renovation loans.
Osidi emphasized the need for recapitalization to enhance FMBN's ability to fulfill its mandate and expand affordable homeownership nationwide.
