Emmanuel Fernandez Named in PFA Scotland Team of the Year

Emmanuel Fernandez has achieved recognition by being included in the PFA Scotland Team of the Year for the 2025-26 season. The 24-year-old central defender joined Rangers during the summer transfer window from Peterborough United for a reported fee of £2.9 million.

After overcoming a slow start, Fernandez established himself as a key figure in the club's defensive unit, showcasing composure on the ball and initiating attacks. Throughout the season, he made 28 appearances and scored six goals, highlighting his threat during set pieces and open play.

His performances drew attention across European football, leading to his selection in the league's best XI, voted by fellow players. Fernandez expressed his delight at this significant milestone in his career, crediting the support from the club's technical crew, teammates, and fans for helping him settle quickly at Ibrox.

He also earned his first call-up to the Super Eagles during the March international window, making his debut in a 2-1 victory against Iran and scoring his first international goal in a full debut against Jordan.
