Federal Government Launches N50,000 Monthly Aid Program

The Federal Government has initiated a monthly cash relief program offering N50,000 to vulnerable households to mitigate the effects of increasing living costs. This program, known as the National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI), was announced by Dr Bernard Doro, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja.
The initiative is a presidential response to global food inflation and the rising costs of essential goods. Eligible beneficiaries will receive the monthly assistance without needing to apply, pay fees, or register through agents.
The ministry is collaborating with licensed digital financial service providers to ensure secure and prompt fund delivery, with beneficiaries receiving notifications before payments are made directly to their bank accounts or mobile wallets. Dr Doro emphasized the importance of safeguarding personal information and provided a helpline for inquiries.
This intervention aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and complements existing social protection programs.
