Nigeria Cracks Down on Sale of Adulterated Fuel

The Nigerian government, through the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), is launching a crackdown on the sale of adulterated and substandard petroleum products across the country. This initiative, disclosed on Friday, involves routine random sampling inspections as part of a systematic quality certification process aimed at ensuring that petroleum products sold in Nigeria meet approved standards.

Mr. Aminu Abubakar, who leads the laboratory services in the Industrial Chemistry Department, was seen visiting various filling stations to collect petroleum product samples for spot testing.

Abubakar emphasized that Nigerians are entitled to receive petroleum products that meet specific requirements. The NMDPRA is tasked with enforcing compliance and conducting quality spot checks.

Abubakar urged the public to report any suspected cases of substandard fuel, highlighting that consumers should not be sold inferior products. Complaints can be directed to NMDPRA offices nationwide for resolution.
