Nigerian Government Declares Public Holidays for Christmas and New Year Celebrations

The Nigerian Federal Government has declared December 25, 26, 2025, and January 1, 2026, as public holidays for Christmas and New Year celebrations. The Ministry of Interior made the announcement, encouraging citizens to reflect on love, peace, and unity.

Various officials, including Olubunmi Tunji Ojo and Bayo Balogun, emphasized the importance of security and unity during the festive period. They urged Nigerians to support government efforts in restoring peace in the country.

Additionally, Opeyemi Makinde highlighted the need for a state police system to address security challenges.
