FG: Nigeria Positioned as Globally Relevant Mining Hub

The Federal Government of Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to positioning the country as a globally relevant and competitive mining hub. The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Solid Minerals, Engr Farouk Yabo, highlighted Nigeria's potential in the mining industry, with 44 distinct mineral types identified across the country.

The 2025 Nigeria Mining Week was noted as a key platform for industry stakeholders to discuss growth and development in the sector. Despite progress, challenges such as infrastructure gaps, access to finance, and regulatory bottlenecks persist.

The President of the Miners Association of Nigeria, Dele Ayanleke, emphasized the need for dialogue, partnership, and investment to drive sustainable practices and business excellence in the industry. The upcoming 10th Anniversary Edition of the Nigeria Mining Week aims to showcase technological innovations, promote investment, enhance safety, and support artisanal miners.
