Nigeria Unveils Blue Economy Agenda at Africa Forward Summit

At the Africa Forward Summit held in Nairobi, Kenya, the Federal Government of Nigeria, represented by Minister Adegboyega Oyetola, presented its blue economy agenda. This initiative is part of the government's strategy to unlock the vast potential of Nigeria's maritime resources.

Dr. Bolaji Akinola, Special Adviser to the Minister, stated that the establishment of the Federal Ministry of Marine Blue Economy in August 2023 is a significant milestone.

The ministry aims to provide a strategic framework for sustainable growth in the sector, with a projected revenue performance of N1.83 trillion for the 2025 fiscal year. The summit, co-hosted by Kenyan President William Ruto and French President Emmanuel Macron, gathered African leaders, policymakers, and investors to discuss innovative economic growth strategies.

Notably, the summit marked a new phase in Africa-France relations, being the first such summit hosted by an English-speaking non-Francophone African country.
