NCFRMI's Aliyu Ahmed Reports 50,000 Refugees Repatriated

Aliyu Ahmed, the Federal Commissioner of the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), reported that in the past three years, approximately 50,000 Nigerian refugees have been repatriated. During a speech marking his three-year tenure in Abuja, he highlighted the ongoing commitment to manage over 6.7 million displaced individuals within Nigeria, including those from neighboring countries.

Ahmed noted that the commission has also been caring for host communities that accommodate internally displaced persons (IDPs). He mentioned the recent return of 1,400 Nigerians from the Republic of South Africa and the continuous influx of returnees across the 36 states.

Ahmed acknowledged the support from President Bola Tinubu in fulfilling the commission's mandate and emphasized the importance of maintaining accurate data on migrants and displaced persons.
