Nigeria's Government Launches N50,000 Monthly Aid Program

The federal government of Nigeria has initiated a monthly cash relief program offering N50,000 to vulnerable households, aimed at mitigating the impact of increasing living costs. Dr. Bernard Doro, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, announced this initiative, known as the National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI), in a statement issued in Abuja.
This presidential initiative is a response to global food inflation and the rising costs of essential goods. Eligible beneficiaries will receive N50,000 monthly to assist with essential needs.
The program will be regularly reviewed based on changes in living costs, with beneficiaries informed of any adjustments. The ministry is collaborating with licensed digital financial service providers to ensure secure and transparent fund delivery.
Beneficiaries will receive text messages requesting consent before payments are made directly into their bank accounts or mobile wallets. Doro cautioned against fraud and advised beneficiaries to protect their personal information.
This intervention aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
