Nigeria Seeks IMF Support to Boost Fiscal Resilience in Oil Sector

The Nigerian government, through the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, has approached the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for technical assistance in developing transparent and resilient pricing mechanisms for the oil sector. Dr.

Vitali Obi, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, emphasized Nigeria's commitment to strengthening its fiscal and energy frameworks. The request was made during a meeting in Abuja involving key stakeholders such as the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) and the Nigerian Midstream Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).

Chri Ugwuegbulam, the head of the Ministry's Press and Public Relations Unit, highlighted the importance of the IMF's support in aligning with Nigeria's efforts to enhance its fiscal framework amidst global energy market uncertainties.
