Nigerian Youth Development Ministry Focuses on Measurable Results

The Federal Government has set a new agenda for the Ministry of Youth Development, emphasizing the need for measurable results in youth programs. Minister Comrade Ayodele Olawande made this announcement on Wednesday in Abuja during the Ministry’s Management Retreat, themed “Consolidating Youth Development Priorities: Delivering Results, Strengthening Partnerships, and Expanding Impact.” He stressed that every initiative must demonstrate a tangible difference in the lives of Nigerian youth, with performance metrics including job creation, business establishment, skills acquisition, and improved access to funding.
Olawande highlighted the importance of the National Youth Data Bank for evidence-based decision-making and urged stronger partnerships focused on job creation and skills development. He called for improved coordination within the Ministry, linking planning to budgeting and action.
The retreat aimed to produce clear priorities and measurable indicators of success. Permanent Secretary Dr. Maryam Keshinro, represented by Olaniepekun Adebayo, noted the retreat's role in reviewing performance and identifying gaps.
Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu of NYSC reaffirmed collaboration in skills acquisition and entrepreneurship.
