FG Denounces Saboteurs of New Tax Laws Amid Misinformation Claims

The Federal Government has accused certain individuals of sabotaging the success of new tax laws through misinformation. Tope Fasua, the Special Adviser to the President on Economic Affairs, defended the tax reforms, stating they are pro-poor and aimed at recalibrating the nation's revenue generation.

The allegations of sabotage were made during the inauguration of a joint committee between the National Orientation Agency (NOA) and the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reform in Abuja. The House of Representatives member, Abdulsamman Dasuki, raised concerns about discrepancies in the tax laws passed by the National Assembly.

The new tax laws are set to take effect from January 1, 2026, after being signed into law by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in June 2025.
