FG Targets 10 Million Women for Economic Empowerment, $1 Trillion Goal

The Federal Government unveiled plans to empower 10 million Nigerian women to drive a $1 trillion economy by 2030. The Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan, announced the initiative at the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The empowerment project aims to boost inclusive growth and financial independence among women through targeted interventions. The Nigeria Women Project (NFWP) will mobilize women across multiple states, providing access to livelihood grants, financial institutions, national IDs, and health insurance schemes.

The first phase of the project has already seen significant progress in six states, with women forming Affinity Groups to save and access financial support.
