Nigerian Government Urged to Reform Education System for 21st Century Workforce Demands

Sonny Echono, the Executive Secretary of Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), emphasized the need for the Nigerian government to increase investment in education to align with global demands. He noted the challenges faced by Nigeria in producing graduates with relevant skills for technology and entrepreneurship.

Echono highlighted the importance of infrastructure, teacher training, and digital resources in the education system. He urged the government to allocate 15-20% of the national budget to education, citing examples of countries like Rwanda and Kenya.

Echono also stressed the significance of teacher training, entrepreneurship education, and vocational skills to equip students for job creation.
