FG Announces New Dam Construction in Plateau State

The Federal Government has announced the construction of a new dam in Limpye, Ampang East District of Kanke Local Government Area, Plateau State, aimed at improving water supply, irrigation, and power generation in the North-Central region. Engr.

Prof. Joseph Terlumun Utsev, FNSE, the Honourable Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, made this announcement during an assessment visit to the proposed dam site, accompanied by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Engr.

Prof. Utsev also noted that the Mangu Dam in Pankshin LGA is 90% complete and will support irrigation, hydropower generation, and potable water supply.

He emphasized the importance of dams along the Sokoto–Badagry Superhighway for domestic water supply and reducing farmer-herder conflicts. The Minister commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support of the water and sanitation sector.
