FG Partners INNOVA to Tackle Cancer Surge in Nigeria

The Federal Government of Nigeria, represented by Dr. Iziak Salako, the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, announced a partnership with INNOVA Healthcare Nigeria Ltd to address the increasing cancer incidence in Nigeria.

This collaboration was disclosed during a stakeholder engagement program in Abuja. The partnership aims to achieve Nigeria's cancer control target of reducing the cancer burden by 50% by 2030 through improved access to cancer care, screening, diagnosis, and treatment.

Dr. Uch Nwokwu emphasized the necessity of partnerships for effective cancer control.

The government currently subsidizes anti-cancer medications at 24 hospitals nationwide, aiding low-income patients. Prof.

Usman Aliyu highlighted the importance of public-private partnerships in enhancing radiotherapy services. INNOVA Healthcare's Mr.

Wong Kai Yan committed to bridging gaps in oncology care, addressing shortages in radiotherapy equipment and specialists. The initiative also aims to reduce medical tourism for cancer treatment, making it more affordable for Nigerians.
