Federal Government Launches Skills Training for 1,000 in Kogi

The Federal Government has initiated training for over 1,000 beneficiaries under Cohort 3 of the Innovation Development and Effectiveness in the Acquisition of Skills (IDEAS-TVET) initiative in Kogi State. This program, implemented by the Federal Ministry of Education with support from the World Bank, involves accredited Training Service Providers (TSPs) across the country, with monitoring across all 774 Local Government Areas (LGAs).
The flag-off ceremony took place in Lokoja and included 10 service providers from various skills-acquisition centers in the state. Trainees will learn skills in areas such as fashion design, solar PV installation, and catering.
National Project Coordinator Mrs Blessing Ogwu, represented by Dr Samaila Dogoyaro, emphasized the initiative's goal of providing industry-relevant skills and reducing reliance on paper qualifications. She noted that attendance is crucial for receiving a N30,000 stipend and urged trainees to view themselves as future entrepreneurs.
The IDEAS-TVET initiative has already reached about 80,000 Nigerians through various training programs.
