FG Urges World Bank to Expedite Project Fund Disbursement

On a recent visit from a World Bank delegation led by Mr. Treed Lane, Dr.

Shamseldeen Babatund Ogunjimi, the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF), called for the swift approval and disbursement of World Bank project funds to Nigeria. He emphasized that the country deserves timely consideration of its fund requests and urged the World Bank to fast-track the approval process to ensure prompt release of project funds that support national development priorities.

Dr. Ogunjimi highlighted that prolonged delays in the approval process undermine the government's ability to access necessary funds.

He also informed the delegation about critical issues raised by the World Bank regarding public financial management and disclosed that the 2023 audit report would be submitted to the Office of the Auditor General of the Federation within two weeks, with work on the 2024-2025 audit report already in progress. Additionally, he assured the delegation that efforts to digitize government financial management systems are underway to improve service delivery.
