FG Warns of Potential Flooding in 10 Nigerian States

The Federal Government of Nigeria has issued a warning regarding possible flooding in ten states, predicting heavy rainfall from April 8 to April 12, 2026. The warning was communicated through the National Flood Early Warning Centre of the Federal Ministry of Environment and signed by Usman Bokani, the Director of the Erosion, Flood, and Coastal Zone Management Department.

The states identified as likely to experience significant rainfall and potential flooding include Ebonyi, Anambra, Ogun, Taraba, Cross River, Benue, Imo, Delta, and Abia. Specific locations within these states that may be affected include Afikpo and Nkalagu in Ebonyi State, Atani and Odekp in Anambra State, Ayetoro and Ilaro in Ogun State, and several others in Taraba, Cross River, Imo, Delta, and Abia States.

The Ministry has urged relevant stakeholders to take precautionary measures in anticipation of the rainy season.
