FIFA Confirms 50% Prize Money Hike for 2026 World Cup

FIFA has approved a record $727 million fund package for the 2026 World Cup, marking a 50% increase in prize money. The tournament, which will expand to 48 teams, will take place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The prize money distribution includes a base payment of $655 million, with the winner receiving $50 million and the runner-up $33 million. Even teams knocked out in the group stage will be awarded $9 million.

Additionally, every qualifying nation will receive a $1.5 million preparatory grant. FIFA President Gianni Infantino hailed the financial boost as groundbreaking for football development worldwide.
