FIFA Sanctions South Africa, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan to Host 2027 World Cup

FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced sanctions against South Africa's national football team, Bafana Bafana, for fielding an ineligible player in a match against Lesotho. As a result, South Africa forfeited the game, dropping 17 points in the standings.

This decision propelled Benin Republic to the top of the table. Additionally, FIFA revealed that Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan will host the 2027 FIFA World Cup, highlighting their commitment to football development.

The ruling also affects the U20 World Cup, considered the second most prestigious FIFA competition after the senior World Cup.
