Falconets Defeat Senegal, Advance to U20 World Cup Qualifiers

The Nigerian U20 women's football team, known as the Falconets, secured their place in the final round of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers by overwhelming Senegal with a 3-1 aggregate victory. The decisive match took place in Diamniadio, Senegal, on Saturday, following a 2-1 defeat in the first leg held in Abeokuta the previous week.

Ifeanyi scored the first goal for Nigeria in the 19th minute, heading the ball into the net from a corner kick, mirroring her earlier performance at the MKO Abiola Stadium. In the second half, Precious Oscar added to Nigeria's tally with another goal from a corner kick taken by Tumininu Adeshina.

Senegal managed to pull one goal back with a consolation goal late in the match. The Falconets will now face Malawi, who edged out Guinea Bissau, in the final round of the qualifiers, with the tournament scheduled to take place in Poland in September 2026.
