Finidi George Leads Rivers United to Historic CAF Champions League Breakthrough

Former Super Eagles winger turned coach, Finidi George, expressed delight as Rivers United made history by advancing to the group stage of the CAF Champions League for the first time. The Nigerian club defeated Black Bull Mozambique 3-1, with goals from Wasiu Falolu, Maclyn Biokpo, and Moctar Diallo.

Finidi praised his players' fighting spirit and composure, highlighting their determination to succeed. This achievement marks Rivers United as the first Nigerian club to reach the Champions League group stage since Lobi Stars in the 2018-2019 season.

The team will now shift focus to domestic league action in the NPFL.
