A major fire outbreak gutted a part of the 25-storey Great Nigeria Insurance House located on Martin Street, Lagos Island, destroying properties worth millions of naira. The fire broke out at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, causing panic among occupants and nearby residents who safely evacuated.
No loss of life was recorded. The Lagos State Fire Rescue Service, alongside emergency responders, battled the inferno to control the blaze.
Margaret Adesey confirmed the incident, stating that the fire originated on the fifth floor and spread downwards. The affected building primarily housed warehouses, storage facilities, corporate offices, and a few shops.
