Federal Fire Service Warns of Fire Risks Amid Heatwave

The Federal Fire Service in Gombe State, represented by Muazu Musa, has issued a statement urging residents to exercise caution as a heatwave escalates fire danger across Nigeria. The rising temperatures are noted to increase the risk of fire outbreaks in homes, markets, offices, and public places.

Musa emphasized that improper handling of electrical appliances and flammable materials could easily trigger fire incidents. He advised residents to handle electrical appliances carefully, avoid overloading power sockets, and ensure that electrical installations are maintained by qualified technicians.

Furthermore, Musa warned against indiscriminate bush burning and dumping of refuse, especially during dry and windy conditions, as these practices can lead to uncontrolled fires. He also encouraged the public to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, particularly for vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly.
