IPNX Nigeria Warns Against Poor AI Adoption Risks

At the 2026 IoT West Africa Conference held in Lagos, IPNX Nigeria cautioned industries about the risks of poor artificial intelligence (AI) adoption. Chief Technology Architect Oluwaseun Oluboyo stated that organizations should not embrace technology merely as a trend without first implementing reliable systems and quality data management.

He emphasized that successful digital transformation begins with understanding customer needs and identifying business problems to introduce appropriate technological solutions. Oluboyo pointed out that AI is not a "magic bullet" and can produce nonsensical results if data quality is poor.

He stressed the necessity for organizations to properly map their systems and prepare their infrastructure for AI deployment. Additionally, he raised concerns about Africa's growing dependence on foreign-based cloud infrastructure and urged prioritization of local digital systems to address data security, privacy, and regulatory compliance issues.
