FIRS rolls out e-Invoicing platform as over 1,000 companies begin integration

The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has introduced an e-Invoicing platform, with over 1,000 companies in Nigeria beginning the integration process. This move is aimed at modernizing the country's tax administration, enhancing transparency, and reducing tax evasion.

The initiative officially launched on August 1, following a successful pilot phase that began in November 2024. FIRS Chairman Zacch Adedeji announced the rollout, with MTN Nigeria being the first taxpayer to transmit live electronic invoices.

Other major corporations like Huawei Nigeria and IHS Nigeria are expected to follow suit soon. The FIRS has partnered with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) to facilitate the integration of service providers and ensure a smooth transition.

The deadline for onboarding has been extended to November 1, 2025, to accommodate operational challenges. This e-Invoicing platform, part of the Electronic Fiscal System (EFS), aims to enhance revenue assurance, reduce tax evasion, and modern.
