First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Advocates for Waste Reduction

Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of Nigeria, called on Nigerians to reduce food waste and properly dispose of refuse in her message commemorating the 2026 World Cleanup Day, observed on September 20. The theme for this year was “From Clean Plates to Clean Cities,” highlighting the need for individuals and communities to understand that environmental cleanliness starts with minimizing waste.

She pointed out the significance of focusing on food waste amid ongoing global challenges like climate change and conflicts that disrupt food production and supply.
