NILDS DG Calls for Transparency in Nigeria's Fiscal Reforms

Abubakar Sulaiman, the Director-General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), addressed the urgent need for transparency and data-driven leadership in Nigeria's fiscal reforms. Speaking in Abuja, he noted that the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) must strengthen the country's fiscal governance framework.

Sulaiman, a former Minister of National Planning, emphasized that Nigeria's fiscal federalism relies heavily on foresight and effective management of national revenue. He underscored the importance of the commission embracing transparency and evidence-based decision-making to fulfill its constitutional mandate.

Sulaiman expressed confidence that training programs would enhance the commission's ability to translate strategic policies into measurable outcomes. He also highlighted the need for strong institutional capacity and leadership to address the complexities of public finance management.

The engagement included support from Senate President Godswill Akpabio and House Speaker Abba Tajudeen, reaffirming the National Assembly's commitment to fiscal reform aimed at stabilizing public finances and boosting revenue generation.
