President Tinubu Declares Nationwide Security Emergency, Authorizes Recruitment of 20,000 Police Officers

President Tinubu has declared a nationwide security emergency in Nigeria, approving the recruitment of 20,000 additional police officers to bring the total to 50,000. The Nigerian Youth Service Corps camps and other training facilities will be utilized for police training.

The Department of State Services (DSS) will deploy forest guards to tackle terrorist and bandit threats. Efforts to rescue kidnapped individuals in various states will be sustained.

The President also calls for the establishment of state police and enhanced security measures in schools and remote areas.
