Former Attorney General Abubakar Malami Faces Legal Battle Over Property Acquisition

Abubakar Malami, the former Attorney General of the Federation, is embroiled in a legal battle at the Federal High Court in Abuja over the acquisition of his properties. Malami is accused of obtaining an interim forfeiture order by allegedly suppressing material facts and misrepresenting arguments related to the sources of his income.

The court documents reveal various sources of income, including salaries, allowances, disposals of assets, business turnover, loans, received gifts, and book royalties. Malami seeks to vacate the interim order against 57 properties, including plots in Kano and Abuja.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has been directed to publish the order in a national daily. Malami faces money laundering charges and is currently in custody.

The case has been adjourned for compliance reports and further proceedings.
