Edun Displeased with Tinubu's Reliance on Oyedele

Laolu Akande, a former presidential aide, stated in an interview with Sunrise Daily on Channel Television that Edun, the former Minister of Finance, is unhappy with President Bola Tinubu's increasing reliance on Taiwo Oyedele. Akande noted that Edun's resignation from his position was partly due to health concerns and his estrangement from Tinubu, who has shown a reluctance to replace him.

The dynamics within Tinubu's administration have shifted, with Oyedele and Zacch Adedeji emerging as influential figures, earning the President's trust in economic policy matters. Akande emphasized that tensions have arisen between Edun and the younger technocrats, particularly regarding differing policy approaches.

He highlighted that Tinubu's growing attention to Oyedele's recommendations has caused Edun's displeasure, especially as Oyedele's eventual position within the Ministry of Finance indicates a clear shift in policy direction that aligns with Tinubu's preference for a new generation of economic advisors.
