Rivers State Lawmakers Reverse Decision, Back Impeachment Move

In a political twist, four members of the River State House of Assembly initially withdrew their support for the impeachment move against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Deputy Ngozi Odu but have now reversed their decision. The lawmakers, including Sylvanus Nwankwo, Peter Abbe, Baril Nwakoh, and Emilia Amadi, cited the failure of the governor and deputy to show remorse and engage in dialogue.

This development follows accusations of breaching peace terms by Governor Fubara. The lawmakers expressed concerns about constitutional violations and harm to democracy.

The move comes after initial impeachment processes were initiated on January 8, with accusations against the governor.
