Fubara Chooses Weakness for Peace in Rivers State

Siminalayi Fubara, the Governor of Rivers State, stated that he deliberately chose to appear weak to preserve peace and stability in the state amid ongoing political tensions. Speaking at the New Telegraph newspaper's award ceremony in Lagos, he described his decision as a strategy to survive and protect the interests of the people.

Fubara dedicated the 2025 Man of the Year award to God and the people of Rivers State, acknowledging the contributions of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), as a significant political leader despite prevailing circumstances. He emphasized that what some perceive as weakness is, in fact, a strength aimed at fostering peace and survival.

The award was conferred based on merit, as noted by former Ogun State Governor Olusegun Osoba and Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, who highlighted the importance of recognizing tangible contributions to national development rather than partisan considerations.
