Nigeria's Petrol Prices Surge to ₦1,500 in Multiple States

The price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, has sharply increased across Nigeria, with prices now ranging from ₦1,400 to ₦1,500 per litre in several states. In Kano, petrol is priced between ₦1,460 and ₦1,500 per litre, while in Yobe, motorists in Damaturu reported prices between ₦1,500 and ₦1,520 per litre.

In Sokoto, prices have risen to between ₦1,465 and ₦1,500 per litre, and in Borno, motorists are paying ₦1,500 per litre. Zamfara has also seen prices reach ₦1,500, with filling stations in Gusau selling between ₦1,450 and ₦1,500.

Taraba reported prices as high as ₦1,700 per litre. The increase has led to a 50% fare hike among commercial tricycle operators and has forced some vehicle owners to park their cars.

Other states like Kaduna, Jigawa, Kogi, and Plateau also reported significant price increases, with petrol prices varying widely across the country.
