Fuel Stations Cut Petrol Prices After NNPCL, Dangote Reductions

Fuel stations throughout Nigeria have implemented reductions in petrol prices after the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and Dangote Refinery announced price cuts. On Tuesday, major retail outlets in Abuja adjusted their prices significantly, with rates dropping to ₦1,280 and ₦1,296 per liter from previous prices of ₦1,370 and ₦1,390 per liter.

This represents a reduction of ₦90 to ₦94 per liter across various outlets. The price adjustments occurred less than 24 hours after NNPCL reduced its petrol pump price from ₦1,295 per liter to ₦1,361 per liter.

The latest price cuts by Dangote Refinery, which announced a reduction to ₦1,200 per liter, follow several increases in petrol prices since March 2026, attributed to the volatility of global crude oil prices and geopolitical tensions in the Middle East involving Iran, the United States, and Israel. These recent reductions are expected to influence petrol prices across the country as the market adjusts to new supply costs.
