Nigeria's Arms and Ammunition Spending Revealed Amid Rising Insecurity

Nigeria's expenditure on arms and ammunition over five years, totaling N777 billion, has been revealed by the Nigerian Bureau of Statistics. The spending increased annually, peaking in 2024 at N520.02 billion.

This surge in spending is attributed to rising insecurity, including threats from terror groups like ISWAP and banditry. Former military General Ishola William expressed confidence in Nigeria's ability to overcome security challenges within six months but emphasized the need for sustained investment in security.

The country faces significant security threats, necessitating higher spending on personnel, equipment, and operations.
