The official list of the top 25 all-time leading scorers in FIFA World Cup history was released by FIFA. Miroslav Klose from Germany and Lionel Messi from Argentina share the top position, each having scored 16 goals.

Klose achieved this over four World Cups from 2002 to 2014 in 24 matches, while Messi has scored his goals across six World Cups from 2006 to 2026 in 27 matches. Following them is Ronaldo Nazário from Brazil with 15 goals in four World Cups (1994-2006) in 19 matches.

Gerd Müller from West Germany and Kylian Mbappé from France are tied with 14 goals, with Müller scoring in two World Cups (1970, 1974) in 13 matches, while Mbappé's goals came in three tournaments (2018, 2022, 2026) in 15 matches. The list features other legendary players, including Pelé, Jürgen Klinsmann, and Gabriel Batistuta, showcasing their contributions to World Cup history.
