Gambari Aims for PDP Governorship Ticket in Kwara 2027

Omar Bolaji Gambari, the son of the late President Muhammadu Buhari's former Chief of Staff, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, announced his intention to secure the People's Democratic Party (PDP) governorship ticket for Kwara State in the upcoming 2027 elections. Speaking to newsmen in Ilorin, Gambari expressed confidence in the PDP's ability to reclaim power in Kwara, stating that the party would spring surprises and return to governance.

He emphasized the need for a government capable of addressing the economic and social challenges faced by residents, particularly in light of rising taxation and living costs under the current All Progressives Congress (APC) administration. Gambari noted that the PDP is intensifying grassroots mobilization across the 16 local government areas of the state ahead of the elections.

The PDP leadership, led by Abdulraman Mohammed, commenced screening for presidential and governorship aspirants on May 18, with the deadline for submission of nomination forms set for May 15.
