Ghana Mourns Highlife Legend Ebo Taylor's Passing, Global Music Community Pays Tribute

Ghana's renowned highlife musician, Ebo Taylor, has died, leaving a profound impact on the music world. Taylor, a guitarist, composer, and bandleader, played a key role in shaping modern popular music in West Africa.

Described as a founding father of contemporary highlife, he passed away on a Saturday after a career spanning six decades. Just a month before his death, a music festival bearing his name was launched in the Ghanaian capital, Accra, to celebrate his 90th birthday.

Taylor's genre-blending music, which combines traditional African rhythms with jazz and Caribbean influences, was recently added to UNESCO's list of intangible cultural heritage.
